How to Work: Lock Confirmed Sale Order in Odoo 18 (Enterprise)

In Odoo 18 Enterprise, the Lock Sale Order feature helps prevent accidental or unauthorized changes to a confirmed sales order. Once a sale order is locked, users cannot edit the order lines, quantities, prices or other critical fields. This is especially useful for maintaining data accuracy after confirmation.

What is “Lock Confirmed Sale Order” in Odoo ?

When a Sale Order is confirmed, Odoo allows you to lock it so that:

  * No further modifications can be made
  * Commercial terms remain unchanged
  * Accounting and delivery processes stay consistent

This ensures better control over the sales workflow.

  1. Go to Sales Module > Settings > Lock confirm sales Enable  



How the Lock Feature Works

Step 1: Create a Sale Order

 * Navigate to Sales → Orders → Quotations

 * Click Create

 * Add customer, products, quantities and pricing

Step 2: Confirm the Sale Order

 * Click Confirm

 * The quotation becomes a Sales Order

Once locked:

 * Order lines become read-only



* Another feature allows users to both lock and unlock a Sales Order. An “Unlock” button appears at the top of the order and is accessible only to authorized user. Once unlocked, the order becomes editable for necessary changes. While in the unlocked state, users can lock the order again if required. These options are illustrated in the screenshots below.



* After clicking “Unlock”, the lock badge on the right side disappears. Once the necessary adjustments are made, the order can be locked again using the Lock button. The order then continues through the standard workflow, including delivery validation and invoice creation.


* Prices, discounts and quantities cannot be changed
* No products can be added or removed
